Who can get involved?
Everyone is welcome to get involved in ALTNI.
We look to support and engage anyone who is professionally involved in learning technology across NI. That includes learning technologists and educators of all descriptions! Whether you are from a university, FE college, school, educational organisation, or the private sector, you are welcome.
Our community has individuals from:
- Queen’s University Belfast
- Ulster University
- Northern Regional College
- South Eastern Regional College
- Belfast Met
- JISC
- Advance HE
- CCEA
We welcome engagement from Irish Learning Technology Association (ILTA) community in any of our activities, and encourage the ALTNI community to look out for ILTA events.
How to get involved?
You do not need to be an ALTNI or ALT member to take part in our activities. But we do encourage you to explore ALT’s membership options. View our page on the ALT website for all the options to get involved.

Activities
We kickstarted 2022 with a programme of activities to bring the learning technology community in NI together. You can submit a question or offer your advice on our Postbag, join our Not-just-book-club, register for our supportive CMALT cohort, or attend the ALTNI Annual Event.
Volunteer
To support our programme of activities we need the help of the community. If you are interested in volunteering your time and skills, please keep checking here and on our Twitter feed for specific opportunities, or send us a message. Volunteer roles might include:
- Coordinating social media
- Facilitating online activities
- Annual event organising
Committee
We aim for a committee that is representative of the different sectors that make up the learning technology landscape in NI. When a vacancy arises on the committee we will advertise for expressions of interest via our social media and mailing list channels.
