Northern Regional College Customer Service Team Member of the Year: Shannon Boyce
The ALT NI community would like to end this pretty tough year by recognising and showcasing some of the extra special achievements of some of our members. This is the first post in the series.
The exceptional level of customer service consistently delivered by ALTNI member, Shannon Boyce, was formally recognised when she won the award for Customer Service Team Member of the Year at Northern Regional College’s annual staff recognition awards. Along with other members of the Creative and Innovative Learning Team, Shannon scheduled a programme of online training for staff to support them through the sudden transition to remote teaching as a result of the pandemic. This included sessions in the evening to accommodate part-time staff and those with caring responsibilities, along with one-to-one support and virtual ‘drop-in clinics’ to answer queries for anxious lecturers facing this unexpected challenge.
Shannon’s line manager, Megan Oliver, nominated her for the award, stating: “She continues to perform above and beyond her expected duties and provides an extremely valuable amount of support to her team. Everyone I communicate with inside the College never fails to mention the help which Shannon provides. I have worked alongside her for over two years to witness daily the professionalism and willingness to carry out her role. I feel she is extremely deserved of this award for her punctual response to any issue which arises.”
